FAQ
What are worship services like at Mount Olivet?
Our services are traditional, dynamic, and disciplined! Characterized by exceptional music and strong biblical preaching, our worship services are designed to lift your spirits, deepen your faith, and prepare you for a life of meaning and purpose in God’s world. We also understand that your life is busy and value your time, and so we offer disciplined and energized services that rarely run longer that forty minutes and always start on time. We welcome children at all services. There is also nursery and Sunday School available during many services.
What should I wear to services?
Whatever makes you feel most comfortable. Seriously. Folks come from all walks of life and dress in everything from Saturday casual to Sunday best, so please come as you are.
Do I need to go to a class before I worship at Mount Olivet?
Definitely not. Everyone is welcome to worship here whether you’ve been attending church your whole life, or whether this is your first time visiting a congregation. Should you have questions about membership, we’re glad to answer them. But that’s on your timing.
Do I need to be Lutheran to attend services or to join the church?
Again, definitely not. Mount Olivet is a Christian congregation in the Lutheran tradition and we have members from a variety of church (and non-church) backgrounds. Over time, you’ll likely learn a bit more about why we’re grateful for our Lutheran tradition and heritage, but as you’ll see that’s because it helps us understand and live our faith in our daily lives.
Is there someone I can call to ask some other questions?
Sure. If you have questions about Mount Olivet in general or in about joining our church, you can contact Pastor Bill MacLean at 612.767.2230 or by email, or our Director of Membership, Carol Nault, at 612.767.2204 or by email. You can also find a directory of our staff, both by name and department, here; feel free to contact any of them directly with specific questions.
