SUMMARY:Day Advent Journey
DESCRIPTION:$20 for lunch & program\, $10 for transportation \nJoin us for Day Advent Journey led by Pastor Ben Cieslik\, Pastor Jeni Grangaard\, Rev. Dr. Theresa Latini\, and Conference & Retreat Center staff. This year’s theme draws on the ancient prayers embedded in our beloved Advent hymn — seven names for the God we’re waiting on\, from Wisdom and Root of Jesse to Dayspring and King of the Nations\, culminating in Emmanuel\, God with us. Throughout the day we’ll explore these titles through scripture\, song\, and prayer\, asking where each one meets our own waiting this season. Register now to begin your Advent journey with us. \nDay Advent Journey is one of our annual day-time retreats. It provides space to gather with familiar and new friends and enter the season of Advent together through worship\, learning\, and conversation in a place of inspiring beauty. Begin the day with fresh pastries\, enjoy a delicious lunch provided by our professional chefs\, and end with communal worship. \nTravel Agenda\n8:30am    Bus leaves MPLS campus\n8:45am    Bus leaves 7500 York\n9:30am     Bus  arrives\, check in at front desk\, coffee & pastries\n10am      Program begins

SUMMARY:Living the Message
DESCRIPTION:What Did Jesus Do?\nPerhaps you remember the wristbands what were so popular a few years back. Bright yellow\, with the letters WWJD emblazoned across them. That stood for “What Would Jesus Do?” to remind the folks wearing those wristbands to try to conform their lives to Jesus’ example. Many of your Mount Olivet pastors remember those wristbands too\, though few if any wore them. Why? Because we are convinced that a far more important question is “What Did Jesus Do?” That is\, the Christian faith is less about ethics and morality than God’s grace and love\, which in turn shapes both who we are and what we do. \nFor this reason\, multiple Mount Olivet pastors are teaming up to teach this year’s Living the Message class\, each choosing stories from the Gospels that they feel illustrate what Jesus actually did that reveals the heart of God for us and all the world and\, in turn\, shapes how we live with each other. Join us as it promises to be a fun\, surprising\, and faith-enriching experience. \n\nOctober 6: Jesus Makes a Splash: Exorcisms\, Sermons\, and Weddings\, Oh My with Pastor Lose\nNovember 10: Jesus Reveals Who We Are: On Swords and Divided Families with Pastor Dixon\nDecember 1: Jesus Frustrates People: More Than Meets Our Eyes with Pastor Cieslik\nJanuary 5: Jesus Isn’t Fair: Bad Friends and Poor Choices with Pastor Lose\nFebruary 2: Jesus Learns a Lesson: Going to the Dogs with Pastor Grangaard\nMarch 2: Jesus Loves Others and Asks Us to Love Also: The New Commandment with Pastor Olson\nApril 6: Jesus Recommissions Failed Disciples: Breakfast on the Beach with Rev. Dr. Theresa Latini\nMay 4: Jesus Dies for Us\, Now What?: The Ending No One Wanted with Pastor Lose\n\n\nVideos will be filmed live at the in-person presentation and emailed by the second Monday of the month. \n\nAll are welcome at any time!  \nQuestions? Contact Katie Stevenson\, Coordinator of Adult Education by email or at 612.767.2232.
