Pastor Hogenson Highlight

One highlight of the summer included Pastor John Hogenson preaching at the Prayer & Praise service on Wednesday,
July 27. This was the fulfillment of a dream Pastor Hogenson had since his cancer diagnosis. He delivered his message in grand fashion to a full house, reminding all of us to “Remember who we are – beloved children of God.”

Pastor Hogenson and his family are grateful for the many prayers and expressions of care the Mount Olivet community has provided. Updates can be found on his CaringBridge site at http://www.mtolivet.org/news/pastor-john-d.-hogenson/caring-bridge-updates.

Pastoral Update

PASTOR STEPHEN CORNILS and PASTOR DREW BAKKEN have been named the new pastoral leads for Mount Olivet West Campus. The decision to deploy two pastors to West was made with consideration for accelerating growth and in preparation for the capital campaign envisioned for next spring. This staffing arrangement is open-ended so that a new senior pastor will be free to implement his/her vision for the further development of the West Campus.

Pastor Cornils is pleased to be returning to West where he served as lead pastor from 2007 to 2010. He will retain a strong presence at the Mpls Campus: preaching, managing current congregation-wide assignments of Worship, Adult Ministry, and Stewardship. Pastor Cornils’ new title is Pastor for Vision & Mission.

Pastor Bakken, currently the task force chair of the new building at the West Campus, will continue to provide oversight for Youth Ministry, and the Global Mission task force. Pastor Bakken will be present most Sundays at Mount Olivet West Campus and at regularly scheduled West Campus events and activities. Pastor Bakken is designated as Pastor for Congregational Life & Growth.
