Minneapolis East Campus Addition Goal in Sight

Mount Olivet is in the final phase of fundraising to complete the addition to the Minneapolis Campus. With construction slated to begin in May, the project needs over one million dollars to fully cover the cost. Please contact Mari Carlson if you can be the angel who can put us over the top. Bill Walters, Nancy Lindahl, and John Kapanke also are helping with this effort and welcome conversation.

We also are seeking $400,000 to furnish the music rehearsal room, offices, library, and new classrooms for Sunday School.  A committee of choir members – Jeff Justman, Peter Magnuson, and Vicki Turnquist – have organized to help raise “Funds for Furnishings.” We want to involve members and alumni of the Cathedral and Senior Choirs and from all of our musical groups. What a great way to honor children or grandchildren who have been blessed by these programs, especially under the direction of  Dr. Beverly Claflin, who will be honored in this wing for her 30 years of service for excellence in music. The committee is making progress and already has received several commitments. We want to give everyone a chance to have ownership in this project.

To motivate people to give, two families have each provided $200,000 toward construction and to encourage others to provide gifts for “Funds for Furnishings.” A wonderful idea! The start of this campaign is primarily web-based. To make your gift, go to www.mtolivet.org/giving. You will read more about the ambitious capital campaign for the West Campus. Yes, two campaigns are going on simultaneously, both part of the original 2014 campaign effort. We know people may be drawn to one or the other and, hopefully, many will support both campaigns. Some have asked about expectations for those who gave in the first campaign. There are no specific expectations, only hopes that those who did not give to the first campaign might be moved to join in this effort. Those who gave initially might be moved to provide additional support. All gifts will enhance the values and the grace-centered and life-giving gospel emphasis of Mount Olivet: One Church, Two Campuses.
