Update from Mount Olivet

In a special meeting with the Personnel & Finance Committee on February 10, 2016, Pastor John Hogenson recommended Mount Olivet commence the process for calling a new senior pastor. The recommendation was approved and we will begin the process of forming a call committee for Mount Olivet’s next senior pastor.
“I now have the results from the aggressive treatment for the malignant brain tumor that was diagnosed in May,” said Pastor John Hogenson. “While the test shows remarkable improvement in the size of the tumor and I have regained strength, it is not at the speed with which I had hoped. Therefore, after prayerful consideration, I recommend we begin the process of forming a call committee for Mount Olivet’s next senior pastor.”

Pastor John Hogenson will continue to hold the title of senior pastor until a new senior pastor is named, at which time he will assume a new role at Mount Olivet that has yet to be determined. He remains committed to helping advance the mission and ministry of Mount Olivet to the best of his ability as he seeks to further understand how God will use this experience to advance the Kingdom of God. Pastor Dennis Johnson will continue as interim senior pastor, responsible for daily operations and decisions as we undergo the call process.

“We are grateful for the extraordinary leadership from Pastor John Hogenson and Pastor Dennis Johnson at this time,” said John Kapanke, vice president of congregation council. “We remain hopeful for the future of our church, knowing that God continues to lead and guide us.”

A call committee was affirmed by the congregation council at a regularly scheduled council meeting on February 21, 2016.
